Companions in Fisch grant varying passive bonuses that can help you with certain grinds. Since you can only equip one of them at a time, it pays to know which ones are the best to unlock and use for your current goals.
To help you out, we've compiled a list of every single companion in the game, a summary of what they can do, and brief steps you need to take in order to get them.

Breakdown of Companion Rankings
S Tier - The Best Overall Pets
Companion | Reason for Rating |
|---|---|
Relic Construct | Amazing utility, especially if you have a varied collection of relics to feed it and swap its passive around. |
Beak Bill | Great for saving rare bait or just catching lots of fish in general, especially in early game. |
Sunhat Starfish | The stacking luck bonus is great for early grinding and can be very useful as you progress in general. |
A Tier - Really Good Alternatives
Companion | Reason for Rating |
|---|---|
Flopping Salmon | Good general use pet with its progress speed and resilience boost. |
Silly Seal | Technically one of the best, especially against progress-locked fish. Can be a bit annoying at lower levels due to its hunger mechanic. |
Penguin Pal | Pretty reliable freezing mechanic. |
Mosswaddler | Same as Penguin Pal. |
Tropical Toucan | Pretty good for moneymaking and has a neat buff. |
B Tier - Decent To Use Overall
Companion | Reason for Rating |
|---|---|
Little Meg | Can be great, but its tendency to push you around may be a bit annoying. |
Gary Gator | Decent if you don't have stabs. |
Plunderbeak | Can be pretty good if you're farming chests or can find value in Golden fish. |
Terroscuttler | Nothing too exciting, but a decent pet to use when catching fish that move a lot. |
C Tier - Fairly Niche Uses
Companion | Reason for Rating |
|---|---|
Ollie Otter | Specifically only used for items. |
Smudge | Not particularly good outside of trash farming or really slow Scrip grinding. |
Nico | Decent if you need cash or use a Nico's Yarncaster. Not so much use out of that. |
Mutated Sharky | Pretty small mutation boost by the time you can get it. |
Scrap-Bot | Not a particularly good pet at all. |
