Grand Blue Traits Tier List - The Best & Worst Ones

Know the perfect combo to roll for!

More Grand Blue Guides

Your traits are just as important as other aspects of your character in Grand Blue, as having a strong combination of three traits can take your build to the next level. To help you find the perfect traits for your character, we've compiled a tier list of all the best (and worst) ones you can roll for.

Before we begin, keep in mind that these traits are ranked individually. Some of the lower-rated ones may synergize well with higher tier traits too.

S Tier - The Absolute Best

These traits are some of the absolute best ones, both for early and late game. If you are lucky enough to roll them, especially Prodigy at a low level, then you're going to be coasting.

Trait

Rarity

Reason for Rating

Limit Breaker

Mythic

Getting an extra upgrade on your skills is too good to pass up on.

Prodigy

Epic

It provides a massive overall EXP boost that makes it an amazing trait for the grinders out there.

Man of Steel

Mythic

Incredibly strong trait that lets you trade M1s with ease, and certain builds become completely busted with it.

Gaudy

Mythic

Having an extra accessory slot is extremely strong in general.

A Tier - Strong Traits

While not necessarily "the best", these traits are incredible even on their own. Some won't be immediately useful at a low level, but you don't need to reroll if you get them early.

Trait

Rarity

Reason for Rating

Gourmand

Rare

Food buffs can be really good, and this trait makes them even stronger. Very underappreciated trait.

Beast Tamer

Mythic

Really good with certain pet combinations due to some of them having strong crowd control.

Adrenaline

Rare

Useful energy restore and a nice heal to accompany it. Works great in most builds.

Battle Tempo

Legendary

Can be really strong in the hands of a skilled player. Not so great if you keep getting hit and losing its buff though.

Protagonist

Legendary

Cheating death is always going to be strong, though it misses out on the top tier since you should always try not to reach fatal levels of HP anyway.

Maniac

Mythic

Strong passives that activate at half health, though a bit risky if you want to fully maximize its buffs.

B Tier - Decent Alternatives

The traits in this tier are pretty good, though they often have some significant downsides or are just not worth specifically targeting with your rerolls.

Trait

Rarity

Reason for Rating

Enduring Speed

Common

It can occasionally save you from getting killed, which already makes it the only notable common trait.

Nimble

Rare

The extra dash can be great. Hard to justify rerolling specifically for it, but it's not terrible if you happen to get it.

Iron Will

Rare

The damage reduction can mean the difference between winning or losing a fight, though not a lot of moves can reach its 10% threshold.

Marathoner

Epic

It helps you build a lot of speed, which can be useful in some fights or just running around in general.

Second Wind

Epic

Strong hyperarmor that triggers at a relatively safe amount of HP, which can come in clutch.

Sturdy Guard

Epic

Can be pretty strong in PVP, but not so much in general PVE content.

Glass Cannon

Legendary

Huge damage buff with an equally huge downside.

Predator

Legendary

Can help you execute enemies faster, though it isn't very helpful if you aren't winning the fight.

C Tier - Niche Choices

This tier is a bit unusual as the traits here actually aren't bad at all, but most people won't benefit much from them as they are best used for very specific builds and/or playstyles.

Trait

Rarity

Reason for Rating

Copycat

Mythic

It has the potential to throw enemies off and make them think you have a similar build, and it scales off your best stat. Not as exciting/versatile as the other Mythic traits though.

Climber

Uncommon

There may be some uses for it while grinding, but it's not particularly worth keeping if you have rolls.

Night Owl

Uncommon

Decent buffs, but only at night time.

Early Bird

Uncommon

Decent buffs, but only during the day.

Chameleon

Epic

Not really a lot of uses for this one, but it may occasionally help you escape from a fight.

Pyromaniac

Legendary

It's only good for specific builds, specifically Flame fruit users.

D Tier - Not Ideal

These traits aren't really worth the trait slot and can easily be replaced by any of the higher tier options. There are a handful that may be okay if you have no rerolls left and somehow land on them, but that's the extent of their usefulness.

Trait

Rarity

Reason for Rating

Hoarder

Common

Not really worth a trait slot.

Pitcher

Common

Realistically, this isn't going to be useful anywhere.

Diver

Common

It may have some uses, but what are you doing that requires you to stay in water that long?

Garbage Collector

Common

It has some very specific use cases, but it's largely not worth dedicating a trait slot to.

Bargainer

Common

The discount sounds nice at first, but you'll immediately realize how insignificant it is.

Athlete

Uncommon

Not particularly great in both PVE and PVP. It can at least help you move around faster if you manage to get it and have no rerolls left.

Coward

Uncommon

Can only really be useful when running away in PVP.

Vengeful

Uncommon

Not really helpful since it only gives you a significant buff if you eat a lot of hits without fighting back.

Escape Artist

Rare

If you're in a situation where this triggers, then you're already losing badly enough that the speed won't help that much.

Assassin

Epic

Not worth a trait slot as it's essentially a one-time buff when entering combat.

Arrogant

Epic

Relies on enemies not dealing much damage against you, which isn't a very realistic expectation.
