Originally, players in PLS DONATE could earn Robux by making custom gamepasses that other people could buy as a form of "donation". Unfortunately, an update to Roblox itself has forced the game to shift to a more direct Robux transferring system.
Let's go over everything you need to know about it.
Roblox Disabled Cross-Game Passes
On May 5, 2026, a Roblox staff member announced that cross-game sales for passes and dev products would be disabled on the 29th of the same month.
By May 29, this update was pushed through, essentially stopping all third party gamepass sales on the platform. To put it simply, this means that you can't sell gamepasses from one game to another.
This included the donation buttons that players inserted into their booths in PLS DONATE, as those are counted as gamepasses from another game (your custom experience).
People can technically still donate to you by purchasing these directly from your profile.

The Replacement - Transfers API
In line with this change, Roblox implemented a new "Transfers" API, which allows users to transfer Robux directly to another player's balance.
For games like PLS DONATE, this means that you are now receiving Robux straight to your account rather than having to wait for "sales" from other people clicking your donate buttons.
Unfortunately for the average player, transferring Robux will now also require a Plus subscription. On top of that, you will have to link a parental account to accept any donations if you're under 18, as transfers will require manual approval from your guardian.

PLS DONATE is Still Working
Fortunately for everybody, PLS DONATE is still around, and players are still donating Robux to each other through the game. There are only a few significant changes to keep in mind with this new API:
1. Transfer Fees (You Get 90%)
One silver lining to this new update is that you actually get more Robux from donations compared to the old way of selling gamepasses. This is because Roblox no longer takes a cut from transfers done in games like PLS DONATE.
Here's a brief rundown of how transfers are calculated compared to before:
Method | You Receive | Game Creator Commission | Roblox's Cut |
|---|---|---|---|
Gamepass Selling (old) | 60% | 10% | 30% |
Direct Transfers (new) | 90% | 10% | 0% |
As you can see, you will now be receiving 90% of the donations sent your way with the new system, while the game's creator, who happens to be one of the richest players on Roblox, still gets their 10% cut.
So for example, if somebody donates 10 Robux to your booth, you'll receive 9 Robux in your account. Back then, this would only give you 6.
2. Transfer Limits (1,000 Robux Per Month)
For donators, you can only transfer 1,000 Robux per month with this new API, and with a limit of up to 500 Robux per day. Gone are the days when whales could give away millions of Robux in a day, much like what PLS DONATE's creator used to do.

3. Roblox Plus Required To Donate
Transfers will require a Roblox Plus subscription, regardless of how much Robux you currently have. If you want to pay it forward and donate to others, keep in mind that you'll now have to subscribe with real money to do so.
This supposedly adds a layer of fraud security to in-game transactions, and the platform doesn't seem to be interested in taking that restriction away anytime soon.
Tips to Make Your Booth More Appealing
Now that you can't use custom images from your gamepasses, the best thing you can do is spice up your booth with whatever you can obtain within PLS DONATE itself. Here are a few free options to try:
- Change your text font and/or color - The plain white text is what everyone uses, and it's hard to stand out with just that on your booth.
- Get a free booth design - You can get some cool booth designs by redeeming codes or even briefly playing other games, like Pet Simulator 99.
- Write witty text - Ironically, just putting "pls donate" on your booth is unlikely to work. Be a little more creative with it and say something funny, or even use reverse psychology to hopefully get more eyes on you.
