Anime Expeditions Meta Units Tier List

Find the best units for your team!

With Anime Expeditions regularly getting updates, new units and items are constantly entering the scene. This causes the meta to constantly shift, with both old and new units falling in and out of favor.

To help you figure out which ones are worth adding to your team, the tier list below will rank them from the best to the worst across all the roles.

NOTE: Just because a unit is in a lower tier doesn't necessarily mean that it's "bad" overall. Rather, this usually only means that it's merely outclassed by others, and they're still perfectly usable if it's all you have.

S Tier - The Best Meta Units

These units are currently seen as the strongest due to their damage output, supporting capabilities, or both. Pull for these if you can, and you won't regret it.

Unit Name

Rarity

Reason for Rating

Crow

Secret

Really strong damage output, though it does require some setup as this unit's power comes from its Illusion AOE.

Dark Mage

Mythic

Great damage output, especially if placed in a way that maximizes its lightning attacks.

Bioinsect

Mythic

Very powerful, especially with its equipment abilities.

Prodigy

Secret

Extremely high damage output when paired with a team that can stack a lot of status effects.

Shadow

Secret

Great damage and support with its crowd control ability.

Salmon Sorcerer

Mythic

Great crowd control unit in general.

The Drink

Mythic

Good support unit with respectable DPS.

Puppet

Mythic

Powerful rewind ability, and it can do some pretty good damage on top of that.

Vegetable

Mythic

Really strong damage output limited only by the small radius of its attacks.

A Tier - Great Alternatives

These units, while not always seen as the best, can be just as good as those in the top tier or even better in specific cases. Overall a bunch of great units that you'll be glad to pull.

Unit Name

Rarity

Reason for Rating

Cubert

Exclusive

Pretty good support unit, especially with its Cubert Cube stuns.

Forbidden Teacher

Legendary

Okay damage, but truly shines with its damage-buffing passive for Magical units.

Cursed Student

Mythic

Good unit for applying bleed, and pairs well with stronger characters like Prodigy.

8th Sword

Secret

Strong damage coupled with the ability to permanently slow nearby enemies.

String Demon

Mythic

Potent crowd control with some decent damage accompanying it.

Elf Mage

Mythic

Strong follow-up attacks, though needs to ramp up briefly before it really gets going.

The Hero

Legendary

Pretty okay damage with a helpful damage boost for Physical units.

Carrot

Mythic

Good overall DPS with its occasional guaranteed crits and other abilities.

Razorjaw

Mythic

Deceptively strong damage output with a somewhat useful crowd control ability.

Lady Giant

Mythic

Good DPS from its follow-up attacks and transformation ability (though it has a long cooldown).

B Tier - Decent Units

The units in this tier are okay and can even be really good in specific team setups, but some may lack versatility that prevents them from fitting in with more "meta" teams.

Unit Name

Rarity

Reason for Rating

Flame Emperor

Mythic

Strong damage-over-time unit, though notably falls behind in damage output when compared to those in higher tiers.

Crimson

Exclusive

Decent damage, but may be a bit slow for some teams.

Hollow

Mythic

Great unit for teams focused on applying the burn status effect.

Toy Maker

Exclusive

An unusual summoner-type unit that is good, though requires some time to ramp up.

True Saint

Exclusive

Decent unit overall, but a bit selfish with how it buffs itself.

Ice Mage

Epic

While not particularly strong, it has a potent slow that some players may find a lot of use for.

Ice Queen

Legendary

Can freeze enemies, and it may help finish off enemies with low HP despite having low DPS.

Reaper

Legendary

Decent damage and can ramp up pretty well, but incredibly selfish self-buffer.

Ramen Guy

Legendary

Farm unit, so it doesn't get to be the "worst" but it's far from being among the best either.

Stone Alchemist

Epic

Same as Ramen Guy.

C Tier - They Just Exist

The units in this tier are often afterthoughts used to fill empty slots in team compositions or just straight up bad and avoided by most. No other reasons need to be given for those in this tier, as they just kind of exist.

This includes the starter units, as you outgrow them fairly quickly, if not immediately.
