There are varying types of Colossal Dragons to catch in Fisch, and you'll eventually need to catch some for certain quests and milestones. To help you out, we'll show you how to catch all three types (Ancient, Blue & Ethereal).
IMPORTANT: All Colossal Dragon Hunts can be spawned in through Disturbance. Bring a rod with Ferocious, or other good enchantments that have high Disturbance if you don't have each variant's preferred rod.
How to Catch Colossal Blue Dragons
The Colossal Blue Dragon exclusively spawns in the Luminescent Cavern, and you must wait for its specific hunt to start unless you have a Colossal Dragon Hunt Totem ready. The Luminescent Oath rod increases the chance of spawning it.
It's highly recommended to have a Fish Radar equipped so you can spot the hunt when it spawns. The Colossal Blue Dragon Hunt shows up as a red pool on the water:
Here are some tips to keep in mind:
- There is a 20% chance per movement to slightly increase progression and then drain a larger percentage afterwards.
- Any rod is usable, but use the strongest one you have in terms of control and resilience.
- Use Shark Head bait.
- It prefers Spring or Summer, with Clear weather.
You may see tips about using Sundial Totems to spawn this hunt (and the others too), but this is an outdated method that doesn't work anymore.
How to Catch Colossal Ancient Dragons
The Colossal Ancient Dragon is harder to catch as it requires you to complete a quest within the Luminescent Cavern first.
The Crimson Guard's Quest
Head to the red glowing gate in the Luminescent Cavern, then speak with the Crimson Guard standing in front of it. He'll give you the "A Mutated Dragon" quest, which only has one objective:
- Find a Crimson mutated Colossal Blue Dragon for the Crimson Guard.
To complete this quest, you'll need to repeatedly appraise a Colossal Blue Dragon, as the only way to get the Crimson mutation naturally is by using rods that can only be found in the cavern.
Once the gate is open, head in and dive deep into the water. At the end, you'll find yourself in the Crimson Cavern.
Spawning a Colossal Ancient Dragon
Similar to the Blue dragon, high Disturbance is the key to spawning this hunt quickly. Colossal Ancient Dragon Hunts appear as red pools on the Fish Radar, and its arrival is announced in chat.
The Ruinous Oath rod has a higher chance of spawning this event, though this requires you to have a full Shiny Sparkling Bestiary in the Crimson Cavern to purchase.
Here are a few tips to consider:
- There is a 25% chance per movement to slightly increase progression and then drain a larger percentage afterwards.
- Use a rod with high control and resilience.
- Use Shark Head bait.
- It also prefers Spring or Summer and Clear weather.
How to Catch Colossal Ethereal Dragon
The Colossal Ethereal Dragon has a chance to spawn in either the Luminescent Cavern or the Crimson Cavern. The best advice we can give is to use a Fabulous Rod, as it increases the chances of spawning this hunt.
Here are a few tips to keep in mind for this one:
- There is a 30% chance per movement to slightly increase progression and then drain a larger percentage afterwards.
- Unlike the other dragons, these don't have a preferred weather or season.
- It likes Truffle Worm bait.
How to Get Colossal Dragon Hunt Totems
Colossal Dragon Hunt Totems are a great way to guarantee that one of them spawns in their respective locations without having to wait or spam other totems.
Because of how rare these totems are, make sure to use them in a private server or ensure that nobody else is nearby to steal your dragon. The hunts despawn once the dragon has been caught!
Currently, the only way to get Colossal Dragon Hunt Totems is through the following methods:
- Redeeming codes whenever there's one that offers it (or "random totems")
- Buying from the Daily Shop (90,000 C$)
- Random Personal Aquarium reward (Very small chance)
