Summon Heroes, as the title suggests, is all about summoning and fielding heroes to do battle on your behalf. There's a diverse selection of heroes to obtain, and with limited slots per loadout, it helps to figure out which ones are worth keeping around.
To help you out, we've compiled this handy tier list ranking all of the units in the game from the best to the worst, as well as some reasons why they earned their ratings.
Keep in mind that this is mainly geared towards PVE content, as it represents the vast majority of the game's activities and because PVP can be AFK farmed with an alt if you only care about the resources from it.

Unit Name | Rarity | Reason for Rating |
|---|---|---|
Puppet | Mythic | Really good basic attack with high AOE, and it works particularly well without its ability. |
Pactbreaker Seraph | Secret | Extremely strong single-target damage and a massive AOE ability. |
Matriarch | Mythic | Extremely powerful summoner that creates essentially an entire other party to accompany your team. |
Seraph | Mythic | Really strong single-target damage with a strong, but slow AOE ability. |
Stargazer | Mythic | Deals massive damage, but requires proper positioning to truly shine. |
Reaper | Mythic | Really good damage and crowd control capabilities. |
Timekeeper | Mythic | Extremely strong single-target DPS balanced only by its low defense. |
Poseidon | Mythic | Same as Timekeeper, he's a great DPS that requires tank support. |
War Eagle | Legendary | Great long-range ability and decent basic attacks. |
Coral Empress | Mythic | Good piercing projectiles that can delete clumped up enemies. |
Rend | Mythic | A very strong melee jack-of-all-trades unit. |
B-4R B.E.T. | Mythic | Good AOE and very tanky in its own right. |
Emperor | Mythic | Extremely strong burst damage balanced by its sluggish speed. |
Jester | Legendary | Really good ranged DPS unit that requires tank support. |
A Tier - Strong Picks
These characters are only just a step down from being godlike, but with the right team composition and stats/traits, they may as well be gods in their own right.
The Villager is a standout for how good it gets and how early you can get it, as it can carry you through the story on its own. This is especially true if you immediately pull multiple copies at the start of your account.
Unit Name | Rarity | Reason for Rating |
|---|---|---|
Villager | Epic | Really good summoner for its rarity, with pretty good damage output to boot. |
Ranger | Legendary | Great burst damage, but ironically requires close range to reach max DPS. |
Kitsune Mage | Legendary | Strong burst damage that requires proper positioning to deal insane numbers. |
Geode | Legendary | Extremely durable tank unit with almost equally good DPS on the side. |
Sniper | Legendary | Really strong glass cannon ranged unit. |
Masquerade | Mythic | A strong jack-of-all-trades unit. |
Divine | Mythic | Another really good glass cannon ranged unit that definitely requires a tank to cover for her. |
Technomancer | Legendary | Pretty good sustained DPS with a reliable burst ability. |
Raiden Vex | Mythic | Very good single-target damage dealer. |
Kaen Final Form | Mythic | Has a powerful AOE ability that can instantly win encounters if it lands. |
B Tier - Pretty Good
These units are pretty good overall, and they can even be viable alternatives to those in higher tiers if you build them right. The Bear Tamer stands out the most due to being a low rarity unit, as it continues to be amazing even as you progress in mid-game content.
Unit Name | Rarity | Reason for Rating |
|---|---|---|
Bear Tamer | Rare | A really strong summoner for how early you can get him, and you can keep him around throughout the entire story progression. |
Necromancer | Epic | Another strong summoner, but with less tanky mobs in exchange for higher damage output. |
Mermaid | Epic | One of the strongest epics in the game, but requires a tanky companion to take the heat off her. |
Mirror | Epic | Decent ranged DPS that clones itself. |
Slime Summoner | Epic | A great alternative to the Bear Tamer with its tanky slime summons. |
Sage | Legendary | Extremely strong DPS, but has to get close to nuke enemies. |
Framerate | Legendary | Good melee unit that sometimes runs in too quickly, preventing tanks from doing their job. |
Tank Commander | Legendary | Strong long-range damage dealer. |
Abyss Lord | Legendary | A chunky tank that can deal a respectable amount of damage on its own. |
YinYang | Legendary | Very tanky unit with subpar DPS. |
Specter | Epic | Possibly the strongest epic melee unit in terms of raw damage. |
Mystic | Epic | One of the best epics in the game due to its powerful homing projectiles. |
Lanternfish | Legendary | Strong DoT damage that occasionally feels inconsistent due to missed shots. |
Avarice | Legendary | A decent melee unit that can suck in nearby enemies. |
Jimothy | Legendary | A good melee unit whose only downside is that it's expensive to purchase whenever it's available. |
Minotaur | Legendary | Strong tank that has decent damage as well. |
Sandman | Legendary | Decent AOE but better used as a tank depending on the team composition. |
Demon Knight | Legendary | One of the best, more accessible tanks in the game dragged down by its speed. |
C Tier - Okay to Start With
These are characters that you'll likely unlock after a few summons, and they're solid choices while still going through the story or even other PVE activities later on. If you invest resources into them, they may still be useful far beyond early-game content.
Unit Name | Rarity | Reason for Rating |
|---|---|---|
Construct | Epic | A good early game tank unit if you don't already have other meat shields to use. |
Thief | Epic | Decent damage dealer that gets outclassed by other epics later on. |
Vampire | Epic | Another decent damage dealer that falls off in higher levels. |
Cyber DJ | Epic | Can deal a lot of damage in early-game content, though tends to miss often. |
Cultist | Epic | Decent summoner unit that occasionally renders itself too vulnerable by attacking up close. |
Dual Wielder | Epic | Strong DPS early on, especially with its whirlwind ability, but heavily outclassed by better units as you progress further. |
Wind Samurai | Epic | Strong DPS, but too squishy and tends to run straight towards danger. |
Alchemist | Epic | Good splash damage that can speed up early grinds. |
Demon Hunter | Epic | Pretty good DPS, but requires a tank to support him for better consistency. |
Shellcaller | Epic | Okay damage, but basically an inferior Mermaid. |
Mecha Unit ZR-9 | Epic | Good ranged damage, especially with its ability, but it's a bit too slow overall. |
Kaen Awakened | Epic | Strong limited melee unit that unfortunately gets outclassed by higher tier characters. |
Mushroom Mage | Epic | Deceptively strong damage output, but wildly inconsistent due to how slow her attacks are. |
Laser Cyborg | Legendary | Strong but really slow DPS. |
D Tier - Not Worth It
These units aren't worth keeping for long, as they get outclassed by units in the same rarity. This is especially true for the Rare units, as they don't bring much value and only serve to fill the summon banners.
No explanations needed for these ones, as a single good pull will stop them from being useful most of the time.
