The Scylla in Fisch is an incredibly rare fish that you can only catch under very specific conditions within the Veil of the Forsaken. This will require you to first unlock and progress through Mariana's Veil, which can only be done with a submarine.
To gain access to the submarine, you'll first need to acquire the drill, which lets you hunt for the submarine parts. Once you have all five parts, which are all found by random chance in Roslit Bay, you can then assemble the submarine and enter Mariana's Veil.
How to Get Past the Volcanic Vents
After getting past the submarine requirement, you'll meet your first hurdle in the Volcanic Vents. To proceed deeper into the veil, you'll need to upgrade your submarine's heat resistance. Set your spawn location here by speaking with the Innkeeper and move on to the quest.
Head to the caves to the south and complete the short obby to reach an area full of lava where the Volcanic Rod is located. You can fish for the required resources here, and this is the list of what you'll need to find:
Resource | Tip |
|---|---|
Inferno Hide | This is extremely common in this area. |
Blisterback Blenny | Use the Fish Head bait for better odds. Clear weather at daytime helps as well. |
Infernal Iguanafish | Use the Insect bait for better odds. |
NOTE: Catch a Magma Leviathan (Exotic) for a puzzle that comes up much later as well. The Truffle Worm bait will help with this.
Once you've claimed the upgrade by turning in all the resources at the podium, respawn your submarine at the Shipwright and proceed further down the veil.

How to Get Past Challenger's Deep
You'll run into another hurdle at the Challenger's Deep. Similar to the previous zone, you'll need to upgrade your suit and submarine by collecting the resources shown above the podium at camp. Same as before, set your spawn point here before continuing, just in case you mess something up and need to respawn.
Head to the cave to the northwest of the camp and start fishing at the pool of water at the end of the long tunnel. These are the resources you'll need to find:
Resource | Tip |
|---|---|
Cryoskin | The Garbage bait will help guarantee this in a single catch. |
Polar Prowler | Use Truffle Worm as bait. It prefers clear weather at night. |
NOTE: Catch a Frozen Leviathan (Exotic) for a puzzle that comes up later as well. The Truffle Worm bait will help here.

How to Get Past the Abyssal Zenith
As you descend into the Abyssal Zenith, you'll eventually find yourself in a tunnel system with large anglerfish. If these anglerfish catch you, they'll teleport you back to the beginning of the area, so duck into the little holes on the walls to avoid them.

Once you've made it past the anglerfish area, you'll stumble into yet another familiar scene. Your way forward will be locked behind another submarine and suit upgrade, and you'll need to find more resources to proceed.
Set your spawn point at the Innkeeper and proceed south, where you'll eventually find the Rod of the Zenith for sale. The rod is completely optional, but take it if you can afford it (1,500,000 C$). Here, you can fish for the following resources needed to continue down the veil:
Resource | Tip |
|---|---|
Abyssal Bearded Seadevil | Use the insect bait for better odds. |
Voidglow Ghostfish | Use the squid bait for better odds. It prefers foggy weather and the Spring season. |
NOTE: Catch a Crowned Anglerfish (Exotic) for a puzzle that comes up in the next zone as well. The Truffle Worm bait will help with this one.
How to Find an Anglers Lantern
Aside from those two fish, you also need the Anglers Lantern item. This can only be acquired by taking it from the head of an anglerfish within the Abyssal Zenith.
To do this, you must first hold either an Orca or The Kraken, which are exotic fish that require significant effort and luck to find and/or catch. Make sure to stock up on multiple of them before attempting this, as there is a chance for you to fail and lose your chance to grab a lantern.
With either of those exotic fish equipped, swim down into the pool with all the anglerfish and feed them the Orca/Kraken. This will put the anglerfish to sleep, but it's recommended to hold another Orca/Kraken to prevent others from killing you. While the fish is asleep, approach the lantern on its head and take it:

Completing the Abyssal Zenith
With all the necessary resources acquired, head back to the podium and turn in all of the items being asked for. After that, you'll gain the Deep Upgrade and the next level of the Glimmerfin Suit. You are now approaching the finish line!

How to Get Past the Calm Zone
Finally, the Calm Zone is the last place to get through before you can start catching the Scylla. After going through the extensive cave system, you'll eventually stumble into a puzzle in front of a door.
Here, you'll have to turn in the three exotic fish that you can catch from the previous three zones. Place each fish on their respective podium in front of the door to unlock the next area:

Further into the cave is another puzzle, this time with different heads of the Scylla on a checkered board. The solution here is randomized with each attempt, so we can't give you an exact answer. The challenge is simple, though.
All you have to do is push each head until it glows green. You only have a minute to do this, and the puzzle will reset and go on a short cooldown if you fail to complete it within the time limit.

Once you have completed the board puzzle, you'll open the way into the Veil of the Forsaken, which is where the Scylla boss fight occurs. Whenever you're ready, jump down into the portal below. You'll find a door with a timer for the next fight there!

How to Catch the Scylla
Before you can catch a Scylla, you have to beat the boss first. Once the boss spawns and the cutscene ends, you're now in the deep end.
Beating the Scylla Boss
Once the boss fight begins, the Scylla's heads will immediately start shooting fireballs at you. Use the environment and any speed boosts or fast gliders you have to avoid damage.
Your goal here is to find the Ancient Crossbow parts, which are the following:
Weapon Part | Location | Tip | Exact Coordinates | Picture |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Bow | At the northeastern part of the boss arena | An Advanced Glider or better will let you skip some of the walking on the way there. | -4800, -11185, 6610 |
|
Arrow | To the west of the Bow | You can use a glider to reach this after climbing up the rocks from where the Bow was located. | -4035, -11185, 6510 |
|
Base | Further west from the Arrow spot | Just jump off the platform where the arrow was and glide down to the west. | -4345, -11155, 6490 |
|
With all the parts on hand, head to the rock formation just in front of the boss, to the southeast. Use the ladders to climb up to the top, where you'll find the Ancient Crossbow. Use each part on it to construct the weapon, and a cutscene will play.

Fishing for a Scylla
Once the cutscene is over, the Scylla boss is now permanently dead in your account, so you no longer have to repeat this fight. You'll find yourself in a place where you can buy the Leviathan's Fang Rod, and you'll also gain access to a new fishing zone within the Veil of the Forsaken.
To catch a Scylla, you'll need to initiate a Scylla Hunt. This can occur naturally with relatively high Disturbance, or by using the Scylla Hunt Totem. It is highly recommended that you buy the Leviathan's Fang Rod for 350,000 C$, as this rod grants a bunch of bonuses specifically aimed at making the Scylla easier to catch.
